"I have an I-did."

I know it is proper to correct your children when they say a word incorrectly, but what if it is too cute? Can you just start using their version of the word in it's stead? Example:
Mug: "Mommy, I can't find my wallet."
Me: "Well, you will have to wait a minute and we can go look for it."
Mug: "Wait, I have a better I-did, I will just use yours instead!"

Word replacement: IDEA.

ha! that's funny! :) we don't correct many words around here either. I figure they'll speak like adults soon enough, and then I'll miss those sweet little words and phrases. :)

We have lots of those words and I now use them instead of the real word...My favorite:
Swimsuit=suitcase "Momma, I'm going to wear my suitcase in the pool"

I love it!! Is it bad that I don't correct a lot of his mispronunciations and incorrect words?? I giggle at them all the time because they're just so cute! And I find myself wanting to say them, too. :)

Nick, I'm an English teacher. No need to correct those little cute "words" they make up! :) Let that sweet boy be as clever and creative as he wants with his words!

Um, I love it. Too cute! I never get tired of the substitutions kids make when they are learning. So precious!

First day of Kindergarten:
Me: Caro, what was your favorite part of the day.
C: P.C. Definitely.
Me: Tell me about P.C. Do you learn about computers?
C: Noooooo. (The the "geez mom" voice) You go to the gym to do stretches and then run relay races or play dodge ball.
