Where Did My Baby Go? (Mug is 18 months)
No more, no more. He is big. He is talking. Fragmented sentences. Repeating each word out of our mouths. Dunking basketballs, washing his own hair, picking out his favorite shoes. Telling me what to do. My baby is officially a toddler. Each month that passes has truly amazed me. I can't believe how quickly things change in the blink of an eye.
Tristan now mimics every sounds he hears. For some reason, he has taken a liking to all yard equipment (blowers, weed eaters, edgers, etc). He also loves to play with my hairdryer. He will hold it and make the noise and come "dry" my hair.
He is still loving basketball. Loves to watch the USA play other teams in the olympics. He will watch and laugh. Not sure what is so funny. Maybe they are funny looking to him? And oh, the independence. Picks out his own shoes, clothes, food. I love that I can tell him to bring me almost anything and he does. I know he understands most things that come out of my mouth!
His vocabulary is soaring! I would list all the words, but it really is pointless. He says most everything. Today he held up a toy that was "dead" and said, "needs batt-er" which is battery. He was right. When I fixed it he said, "mama did it." Holy cow--where did the sentences come from? He also now recognizes his friends very well. You should see his reaction to greeting Creighton! He also loves to see Colton and his aunts and uncles. When he went to his check-up on Tuesday, he saw Brodie and gave him a huge hug! Finally, some non-independent play! Which also means more, "No...MINE's"! It's quite hilarious! Mug still loves his cuddle time and hugs. Still lets me rock him if he wakes from a nap too soon. Still wants to play with my hair when he is nervous. Still has his dimply grin. His skinny legs and arms. His precious little voice. Maybe I can bottle it up and store all of it somewhere? To take out when he does not want me to come near him because he is too busy for me. I feel it slipping out of my grasp. I lay in bed last night just thankful. Thankful to have him. Thankful for who he is and who he will be. My heart continues to grow in love for this little guy. He is such a funny and precocious little gem. Psalm 7:17 "I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High."
