First, I want to give an update on baby Patriot:
He is doing the same, not better or worse. That is good, but not great news. If his oxygen levels do not improve by today, they will send him to Scott & White in Temple to further watch him and try to figure out how to make him better. I went to see him last night and he is a beautiful boy! He is so sweet with a TON of curly black hair!!! We went ahead and had Kelly's shower, and it was a success. Kel got to come for about 45 minutes, but wanted to head back up to the nursery before it closed. Please pray for that family. Kelly and Josh are tired. Very tired. They want to hold their baby. She wants to feed him. They want to go home. Please pray specifically for his lungs to improve and that when she gets to breastfeed him he will latch on with no problems (that has been a huge prayer of mine for her)!!
Also, I added two new blogs to my list that I want you to check out!
Kimberly- she is one of my dearest friends in the world! Our husbands have been best friends since college and through their friendship, ours has grown as well. They recently moved here and Brent and Benjie work together. They have a son, Creighton, who is Tristan's best friend! He is the CUTEST little--very entertaining and the most sweet natured baby I know! Anyway, I am thrilled she is blogging because I know all of you will love, love, love reading about their incredible family!!
The Chumbleys-are a missionary family that our lifegroup has adopted to pray for. They are precious. Their 3 year old son has a malignant tumor in his chest so I wanted to make sure all of you are praying for him. They have the best attitude--it shows in all of their writings. I am so inspired by them and I hope you are too!
I wanted to see how all of you spend your summer days with the kiddos. I want to enrich T's life with activities. Now, I know we are pretty limited because he is only 15 1/2 weeks, but I want to expand and broaden my horizons! I try to read 2 books to him in the morning, then we have some sort of activity like a puppet show or I put on a concert (lucky T--haha), naps, mat play time, naps, then we usually go out somewhere, but it is usually something I have to do. Not so much for him. I would love to go on walks, but it is so hot even in the morning, but we try. Is their anything fun you all do with your babies everyday? Do share!

So sorry for Kelly! She and her family are definately in my prayers. Please keep us updated! Did they say why Patriot came so early?
Not sure. Sometimes, they just come! My T came early too. I just dilated really, really quickly at 37 weeks.
Thanks for updating us on Kelly. Please let her know I'm praying for her and Patriot!
James loves being outside. It's getting hot, so we'll have to do it early or late, or stick to the shaded areas pretty soon! There are so many things to hear and see outside, so we go on walks and get in the baby pool.
I think Tristan should watch basketball game films after the puppet shows. And engaging in activities to increase his finger strength to help his ball handling. Maybe get him a set of Pete Maravich's official drill tapes to watch, those are worth every penny. That's my suggestion.
Thanks for posting about the new blogs...I always love finding new ones to read through friends.
I too am praying for Kel, especially in the nursing area because I know that is so important to her. When you see her, can you hug her just for me? I hate that I can't be with her right now. Please keep us updated. I'm calling her every few days, but I can tell she's frazzled and exhausted. Is Scott & White in Dallas?
Also, some wise older mothers counseled me to relax and not feel like you need to have many structured activities to have a happy, well-rounded baby. T gets so much stimulation by just being in your arms, looking in your eyes, and hearing you talk sweetly and sing to him. Matthew, my nephew was a very early talker and is the smartest kid I know, and E said she didn't ever feel the need to engage him constantly or put him in activities or read to him daily until he showed interest. Now, he's reading on a 4th grade level as a 1st grader and is freaky smart in so many areas. This helped me a lot when I felt like I didn't know what to do with James all day. Now, James entertains us all day long! I don't know if this is what you're asking, but I wanted to add this along the lines of what you're saying, and I hope it helps any mothers of infants reading this.
justin,
ha! brent actually does work on little drills with him. it's really funny to watch!
mel,
S&W is in temple which is only like 30 minutes away, but it's not fun to drive, ya know? i will for sure pass along the sweet encouragement...she is handling everything gracefully :)
make sure if you go to the chumbley's--you go to "czech on the chumbleys" on the website!
thanks!
Thanks for the update--we will continue to pray for the Teten family. I can't imagine going through the past week like they have, and they still have incredible attitudes! Love the new blogs you added!
NOTHING is more enriching than Micahel Jordan's Come Fly with me video.
A young man with dreams of greatness on the baseball diamond...but those are dreams of what might have been...reality has never looked so good.
l,
good to hear! i do sometimes feel like down time is fun...but then i question if i should be doing something "productive"! thanks for the encouragement!
brent,
stop quoting 'come fly with me' on my post~get your own blog!
Hey you don't know me but I read your blog quite frequently, I found it through Melissa, I hope you don't mind. I just had a little girl on the 23rd, it seems that about 5 babies were born since then, someone said it was the full moon, I just think it was time for them to be born. Anyways I'm dealing with a lot with Addyson, she screams most the night sometimes but she sleeps a lot during the day. At this age i'm not sure what activities to do with her though, it's so hot and since we live in an apt there aren't a lot of places to walk. I think your little boy is so cute and I hope you are having a easier time with the bottle. I had a hard time with the nursing, she didn't want anything to do with me, but now she is latching on really well. Anyways just thought I would say hi and introduce myself.
Michelle
michelle,
great! hey, i understand about the screaming! tristan had reflux and was a fussy baby until about 10 weeks or so. you can email me if you would like :)
i took tristan on a walk today in his baby bjorn. he seemed to really love it! as for the bottle, i think he is teething, so i am hoping when that little sucker pops thru he will get over it!
Nicki-- I am a friend of Melissa and Kelly and I was wondering if you had an updated address for kel? I mailed her a package for Patriot and it was returned to me.
My email is LSM05@hotmail.com. Tell her BJ and Lindsay are praying for them as well...
Nicki,
I'm so sorry I missed the shower on Sunday! I did get to see Kelly up at the hospital, but it wasn't the same as getting to party with ALL of you!! I miss working with you guys, granted, I know things have changed a tiny bit since I was there. Where in the world do all the crazy people come from?
Tristan is the cutest little cutie of all the cuties! I love him! I'm thinking another trip to Waco is in order so I can sit and hold babies...you know, get it out of my system. I'm wondering how early on he will be able to master the "I'm stuck in the closet bit" that could be an enriching activity for him!
Any new news on l'il Patriot? Please keep me posted. Take care.
Love ya
Callie
callie and everyone,
baby patriot is home! they were discharged today! give kel a call or shoot her an email! he gets to take his lights home for his jaundice...other than that, he is a CUTIE PIE! can't wait until she posts some pics, but knowing kel, i will probably be posting before her! especially now :)
Nicki,
Thanks so much for the update! I gave her a call this morning, but I figure she has a million other things going on at the moment. The good thing is that now Kelly HAS to change her blog! I've been waiting for her to update since spring break!
