Expect the Unexpected

That's my new motto. Hemochromatosis? Bring it. And now...I'm expecting!
Yes, you heard it! Brent and I are expecting baby #1 in March! I am now almost 9 weeks along! I totally feel it was God's timing (it surely was not ours) so it makes it wonderful and overwhelming all at once. I never thought I would feel this way. I always sort of thought pregnancy as a means to having having children. I know it is, but the responsibilty you feel for growing this life inside! Oh my gosh--why didn't anyone tell me how it would be so crazy good? I have had time to adjust to my never-ending hunger pains, and I mean "wake me up at night starving". Literally I am eating almonds in bed at 3:00 a.m. A strange sound for Brent to sleep to. Also, my insatiable need for naps...and long ones! I heart Saturday naps and Sunday afternoon naps! They make me happy. And although I am longing just to drink coffee for the taste, I got off the the addiction rather well. Only one headache. Needless to say, I found out way too early and I feel like surely I should be done with the 2nd trimester by now. **Note to self and others: Next time deny that you almost punched somebody to get a Whataburger taquito and avoid taking test before you miss your period. Tell yourself you were just really hungry.**
Anyway, yes, the Lord is good. I feel great. I did get a little bad news from the ol' doc already (I am used to these sorts of calls). He said I may and probably have hypothyroidism due to the pregnancy. Meaning my body is not producing enough hormone as it should--big surprise doc--I have too much iron and not enough hormone, c'mon! Seriously though, pray for that, I am a little bummed, but want to stay positive. I hear it is no biggie as long as you treat it. So, pray I get an endocrinolgy appointment to nip this sucker in the bud. I have to take a pill for hormone. OK, don't let this overshadow the joy of it all! Pregnancy is weird and wonderful. I think I am already showing--no joke! Still working out and by the way, I cannot give blood for my treatments. The baby takes some of my iron overload and then birth will be a nice, big, fat treatment in itself. Whew! A lot to share! Anyway, I appreciate prayers, wisdom and advice! I cannot wait to share the joys and everything with you all.

YAYYYYY!!! I've been waiting for this announcement! CONGRATS, CONGRATS!!! Oh, about the hyperthyroidism, I've heard it's not a big deal as well, but I do think it let's you get to look at your baby a little more often - so that could be a definite plus! :)

We so called it. I asked Brent how you were feeling about two weeks ago. He got real weird and said fine. I told Kate I was worried about you, and I thought you were not doing well. I told her Brent gets real weird about stuff like that. He said she was okay, but I got the feeling she was not. Kates quote exactly "Oh Isaac, Nicki is fine, she is probably just pregnant" one week later to the day, Brent text message everyone and let us know the good news! I treid calling you, but you hung up on me. Anyway shiel, we be sooo excited. We will teach him (or her) all about the ways of the pug, ebonics, and how to be crazy in public. Keep us updated, and we will be praying for you guys! -Isaac
