Mr. Michael Gets Married
I intended to write about Michael getting married last Saturday, but Frankie and Emmitt had other plans. So, I am just now getting around to these. I wanted to write about Michael's wedding because it is of large significance. I mean, all weddings are, but this one is a big one for Brent and me. Michael is Brent's childhood friend, and I have been very close with him since high school. He went to Baylor and always remained friends with us. When he graduated with his MBA, he became Brent's business partner. BUT, the reason this wedding is such a big deal, is because Michael has spent the night with us every Sunday night with us for the past two years. He would come over and we would eat Pop Ice and then watch either Scrubs, a movie and for the past year, every season of the Shield on DVD. He used to sleep with Emmitt, but I think Emmitt's gas became unbearable. Anyway, it has been a very special time in our lives, and now he has his own place to go and make new memories. His wife, Jennifer, is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She is a doll. I hope they have many, many, many blessed years to come! On a side note, a funny story that happened to me. I was in the Houseparty and was debating whether or not to get a new dress. There were no guidelines set for me, but I love to dress up in party dresses. I thought, nah, I have sooo many lovely dresses, don't be frivolous, wear one you already have. So, I decided to wear one of my favorite dresses ever. I thought the zipper was on the fritz since the last time I wore it a year ago. Oh well, I thought--it's the old stand-by, or was, that is. I got to the church to get dressed about 2 hours before the wedding. I put my dress on and go to zip. Go to zip. Go to ZIP! Well, half way up, it is not budging. I wish it was because of my large chest, but c'mon, you know better. I was sweating profusely, trying to pull that sucker up. Stuck, stuck and more stuck! I am spinning around in the bathroom pulling and cursing the zipper and it's existence. I took it out to attempt with others to no avail. I decide I only have one choice. To go buy a new one at the last minute. 1 hour and 20 minutes till bells ring. However, I cannot get the flippin' thing off now! It's stuck on my sweaty body!! So I pull a Superman and rip it in half and throw it away and run to Dillard's in Temple (I put clothes on, of course). Bring back the new dress and get dressed with moments to spare. Moral of the story: always buy a new dress, ladies.
