Boldly Going...

...where no woman ever wants to go. By that, I mean, posting her weight abroad the world wide web. However, I am not doing this for you all, but for my records and my blog book. So, I must be frank with you all too! This will help me, should I ever get pregnant again, to see that it took me about 6-7 months to get back here. As you can see, the scale reads 115 pounds! My hubby says it is also 2 pounds heavier, BUT I will use it as it reads--as is. Albeit, this is a couple of pounds heavier from my pre-REW (but I was totally done breastfeeding), but lighter than my pre-Mug. I feel good about it. But more than the scale, I feel good about my body! I have worked hard to get it back to where it is or better. I hope it encourages all of you moms, moms-to-be, that you CAN indeed get back to where you want to be! Unless you are a waif with breastfeeding, it takes:

1. Patience!!!! Breastfeeding holds on to fat for me. Until I dropped a couple of feedings, my scale did not budge! It was soooo frustrating, but I knew that breastfeeding was what I wanted to do, so I just had to understand that.

2. Hard Work. This includes good time management. For a couple of months I was up in the wee-hours in the morning at the gym. 5 am. Ugh. It was the only guarantee I had. You have to make time, if you really want it. Being a mama is demanding! I had to have my workouts for my sanity! I also started jogging with double BOB and getting back into teaching TurboKickBoxing (I truly believe this is the BEST weight loss workout around)!

3. Support. My husband thankfully is a fitness guru. He helped with the kids and encouraged me. He also told me my body was beautiful at all times. Gentlemen, TAKE NOTE OF THAT!

4. No sweets. OK, I am totally fibbing here. I totally could have lost the weight easier if I would cut out all the sugar I consume via candy. However, it is my vice and I have yet to conquer it. I did cut out the senseless (what I call breastfeeding ''munchies'') eating.

And there you have it, my journey. I assume I will lose another 4-5 pounds once I wean REW, but I am cool right now with where I am! I should note that as my body ages, and 2 children back-to-back later, not everything is in the same place that it was. Skin is looser, things are droopier. Hey, it's all part of the beautiful reminder of what we can do as women. Our bodies are so complicated and cool! I hope you all are taking care of yours! Thanks for letting me be honest!

Nic, seriously, did you have to post your WEIGHT?

I would love to weigh 115 pounds. How tall are you again?

Breastfeeding did hang on to fat for me. I worked out with a trainer 3 times a week after Colin, but unfortunately the scale didn't budge. I did lose 5 pounds when I dropped a few feedings. I weaned him on a Monday and found out that I was pregnant on a Saturday, so I'll just have to wait again!

Thanks for all the TIPS! You are doing awesome, of course. Can you reccomend any turbo kickboxing videos?

that is fabulous, Nicki! I am FINALLY about where I want to be, post 8 months. With Reid is just zipped off w/i 5 months and I got ridiculously skinny due to nursing. This time, not so much, but I look fine and I'm comfortable with where I am. I'm thinking if it was 5 months first kid, 8 months second, does that mean if we ever have a third it will take a year to lose it?! ;-) Congrats!

Goodness, you are so tiny! Way to go, girl! I wish I could come to your classes, but I'm trying here in T-town with running and videos. Maybe I can catch up with you!

Sadly, I am with Jill on this one. I had a medical scare and hospital stay when Cohen was 4 days old and crazily was back to pre-pregnancy weight when he was 2 weeks old. Well now I am the largest I have ever been (minus during the pregnancy)and for some reason it still isn't enough to make me want to do anything about it. I guess it't more cookies and tv for me. Some days I wonder just what it is going to take. You go Nicki!

I'm sure you haven't thought about this, but is this really what you want your daughter to think is important? Heaven forbid she ever weigh more than 115 pounds! How do you think it would make her feel to know that wasn't good enough for her mother after having two children? Yes, it's important to show your children how to live a healthy lifestyle, but it's not always about what the scale reads. Also, you're obviously not posting this just for your records. No blog is just for your personal use. If you didn't want everyone to see it, you wouldn't post it on the web.
