Slow Fade

I will have to start this post by declaring that though I feel I was once a music officianado of sorts--that truth no longer exists. My car stereo is infiltrated with "kid music" that Tristan cries for once his hiney hits his seat. Whatever makes a trip easier. Anywho, all that to say, you may laugh when I tell you about the song I have recently fallen for simply because I have no idea how long it has been around! Not in many many many years has a song profoundly touched my soul like this one. Actually, I heard the old song on one of the Kid CD's I speak of, a few weeks ago. I did not grow up going to church, therefore, I am really learning some of the "old school" songs by what I let Tristan listen to. The song, "O, Be Careful Little Eyes" came on and I thought, wow--this is pretty deep for little ones. I loved the message.
Fast forward a couple weeks later and I hear Casting Crown's "Slow Fade"...totally God's timing! The song is a deeper more vivid image of the kid's song. The first line had me in tears.

Basically, the message of the song is that our little bad choices have big consequences. The worst part is that they start as LITTLE choices. Then it becomes complacancy. Indifference. And worst, mediocrity towards God. It also shows the effects it has on others watching us. I think it touched me so because I NEVER want to cause downfall towards my sisters and brothers. All of you, I mean. And as a mother and wife...WOW. How DO my small little decisions and thoughts affect my family. Do I let flattery compromise my values? If I am honest, sure I do. Do negative thoughts invade and take over--all the time! Leading to hurtful words I later regret. That is not the way I want to be known! I want to be a light and not a drain to others! I think about lives have been torn apart because of pornography that lead to other dark things. Or affairs that all started with a lustful thought. Financial burdens that are caused by feelings of inadequecy. This happens and is happening to people we ALL love and it is happening everday! Let's pray the blood of Jesus all over our precious families! Lord, take over EVERY thought--seize it and make it holy!
The song closes with the "kid" version which to be is just so lovely. I think we can all take something from this song. It is one of the better messaged Christian songs I have ever heard. It is on my playlist--I moved it to the first song if you want to take a listen (I can't figure out how to get it to play that song and not randomly play--ya'll can remind me if you know how)! I also copied the lyrics to let so you could think on them.

Slow Fade by Casting Crowns
Be careful little eyes what you see
It's the second glance that ties your hands as darkness pulls the strings
Be careful little feet where you go
For it's the little feet behind you that are sure to follow
It's a slow fade when you give yourself awayIt's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
It's a slow fade, it's a slow fade
Be careful little ears what you hear
When flattery leads to compromise, the end is always near
Be careful little lips what you say
For empty words and promises lead broken hearts astray
It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
The journey from your mind to your hands
Is shorter than you're thinking
Be careful if you think you stand
You just might be sinking
It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
Daddies never crumble in a day
Families never crumble in a day
Oh be careful little eyes what see
Oh be careful little eyes what you see
For the Father up above is looking down in love
Oh be careful little eyes what you see

Thank you for these sweet and true words! I have never heard that song and it is so wonderful...makes me want to do and be everything that God wants me to be for my sweet little man and my husband...makes me realize that none of that is possible without His strength! :)
