Don't Alert the Media Just Yet

But I am dilated 1 cm. I know you can be there forever. You can be at a 2 or 3 forever. However, I was not expecting a "check" today, but boy did I get one (not such a comfortable surprise)! Still, I think you cannot help but to be somewhat pleasantly surprised. How long were you all at a 1?

Nicki,
I was at a 1 for about 2 weeks. When I went back, I was at a 3 and 50% dialated. My doctor told me I need to walk alot and the baby should be coming in the next day or so.... Well, 1 week later, he ended up inducing me at 39 weeks (Christine weighed almost 9 pounds!!). So, sometimes it takes awhile. I hated the last 4 weeks! It seemed like an eternity! Hang in there!

thanks, marcy! i know, i have heard some horror stories about how long people stay at a 1 or even a 2!! i am just going into each week with the mindset that nothing is going to change. i am still only 35 weeks, so i have some time anyway! i workout almost everyday so maybe that will help?!

Isn't it exciting to know that progress has been made! :)

I don't know how long I was at a 1...When I was checked at 36 weeks with Carson, I was a 2 & 60%. Somewhere between then and 40 weeks, I got to a 3 & 70% and was induced the next day - although not because of those measurements necessarily... I'd been laboring without much progress for about 4 days by that point and was pretty worn out.

One encouraging thing I can tell you is that those "fun" checks aren't nearly as uncomfortable the second pregnancy!

Oh, and from what I've read/heard, working out totally helps shorten labor and recovery, so good for you!! I'm majorly impressed! :) My workouts this time around have consisted solely of chasing Carson around all day, which has been a feat in and of itself lately! :)

i have heard that too, but we will see~if it working out makes it easier, i am going to write a book about it!

Exciting!! I have already forgotten, although I think it's on my blog...I'll have to go look. I know it was at least 2 weeks. A girl at church was a 4 for 3 or 4 weeks. It doesn't mean much, except that you're starting the process, however that process is for you! :)

nicki..what type of workouts are you doing?...just wondering what your specific routine has been while pregnant. i'm super paranoid about that--wanting to workout while pregnant!

suze,

up until about 6-7 months, i was teaching kickboxing (taking it to a lower impact) and my body sculpting class (no impact). now, i walk on the treadmill, elliptical machine, lift weights and swim/water aerobics. if you are a runner, you can run throughout the pregnancy as long as you do not increase your intensity, distance, etc. you really do not have to change your routine, unless it is very high impact--then, you just steadily take it down as the months go on. you will be fine doing whatever you do b/c i know you are fit. the BEST thing i recommend is swimming or water aerobics in the last trimester....it is heaven on your joints and back!
