SICK!
Ya'll, it is 4:44 a.m and I am up. Hope this post makes any sense. I am so sick. I hate to say that, but I am. Have been for 1 week straight. What started out as a cold has manifested into something terrible. Something painful. I am not sure what it is, but it feels like the sinus infection from hell. I kid you not, my entire face is throbbing. My cheek bones feel swollen. Nothing is coming out when I try to blow my nose, it is all up there in my head. My teeth, ears and throat are all suffering as well. I think I have taken the maximum capacity of Tylenol anything and it does not help a lick. I think I need antibiotics. I feel so bad for my poor baby. I have been so sick this past week he is probably feeling it too. I just feel really helpless right now. Last night I was up in the middle of the night crying, but I quickly realized that makes it worse. Has anyone else ever been really sick while pregnant? Or anyone who is not pregnant ever had a sinus infection. I have had one, but this bad boy takes the cake. Anway, sorry to sound whiney, but I am just awake and trying to get my mind off of things...

Ryan has started using this stuff made by Ayr. It is called a sinus rinse kit. The doctor recently recommended it to him. He now SWEARS by it! He says it is gross but that it helps TONS. We bought it at HEB. He uses distilled water in the bottle mixed with the little packet of saline stuff.
Sweetie, I'm SO sorry you feel cruddy! I'll be thinking about you!! Lots of love!
The saline solution is a great idea and always works for us. We also love mucinex--it loosens up the congestion to get it flowing and out of your head.
I am so sorry you feel terrible! I somewhat feel your pain--I woke up Thursday night and threw up all night long (imagine all that food from Thanksgiving, yuck!). I've had 101 for 3 days now and am barely able to eat still. Being sick over the holidays stinks! I'll be praying that you are able to breathe again soon!
I'm so sorry you're so sick!! It's NO FUN to be sick and preggers. I had a stomach virus while pregnant and it was the worst. We were up until 4:50 last night because we drove in from Atlanta and then couldn't go to sleep! We could have hung out! I hope you feel better very soon! Someone told me yesterday that Mucinex is great.
Corrie,
is that stuff medicine or strictly saline? that would be awesome if i can take it while preggers!
Laura and L,
stomach virus is the WORST you know how i feel about all of that. i kept thinking this is the worst, but i know that would rival this!
I often do the saline solution, but just do it homemade. Salt and tapwater. A few moments of pain but months of relief.
thanks justin! brent read my blog and went out to get the essentials for me! you all were a huge help! maybe there is relief on the way??!
Nic, the saline solution stuff isn't really a medicine. I just checked the box and it says it has sodium chloride (salt) and sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), so I don't *think* either of those things would be bad for you or T. I JUST READ THE BOX and it says "Safe for use during pregnancy". It says it relieves symptoms of nasal congestion and dryness, alergic nasal irritation, and postnasal drip/sore throat.
It's worth a shot! I hope it gives you some relief!
thanks everyone~especially corrie who made me yummy enchiladas and brought them over! what would i do without you?
hey nicki, I'm friends with audrey. I actually used to have HORRID sinus infections and ended up having surgery for it. so I'm familiar with this topic...
anyway, corrie's right, go with the saline. when your nose is just beginning to get stuffy (or as a preventative measure), you can use the sinus rinse kit--I use this one.
but when you're already all stuffed up, I recommend you just use ocean brand saline--not the generic stuff. It's in the sinus med aisle, and unlike the "rinse" it's not intended to go all the way through. instead it just loosens up what's compacted in there. and again, it's just saline, not a medicine. and, unlike the rinse, you can carry it with you in your purse!
sounds like you have a lot of advice but I wanted to add my two cents. hope you feel better soon!
carrie,
wow! thanks for the great advice! i actually got saline solution and have been using it ever so often and i think it has really helped! i woke up today feeling a lot better :) the left side of my face still feels like i was boxed right in the eye, but overall better. i think i am going to hold off on the antibiotics and see if i feel even better tomorrow. i sure hate to put anything in body being pregnant that does not absolutely have to be there!
o nick...that sucks! hope you are feeling MUCH better and were able to enjoy Thanksgiving a little bit!
Hope you are feeling better...the saline is not fun to use but it works!
Ooohh...I have so been there!! Give in and go to the doctor. When I felt this way, when I was pregnant with Carson, I didn't want to take drugs, but then my mom was like, oh good, so you'll make sure your baby is okay while you die from all of your suffering... Anyway, there are lots of things the docs can prescribe that are perfectly safe, and they'll make you feel better in NO time flat! :) Plus, you'll know their safe compared to over the counters because they wouldn't give them to you if they weren't.
Hope you are well soon!!!
Oh, I hurt reading your blog! God is telling you to rest. My doctor told me that the baby has all the antibodies protecting him from your sickness, just like when you are nursing and you are sick, he is recieving only the antibodies. I hope this gives you a bit of comfort. Please feel better, my heart hurts for you.
